The Seven Tenets of Bushido
The legendary Samurai were truly one of history's greatest warrior cultures. Born of a society fueled by warfare and found absolute obedience to honor and loyalty, the Samurai were both feared and revered by all classes of citizenry in feudal Japan. The legends and stories of the Samurai to this day, dominate any discussion of the ideals and principles of what any warrior should live by and express.
The Samurai lived by a strict code of conduct called Bushido - The Way of The Warrior. The Code of Bushido consisting of seven tenets was the backbone of the very ideals that represented, defined, and restrained these fierce warriors.
We will be releasing seven Samurai shirts, one each month representing the heart and soul of the Samurai Warrior and his ideals. Each shirt will have a unique and beautiful depiction of the Samurai and the back is printed in blood red, with the character Bushi, meaning warrior, and seven characters representing the seven tenets of Bushido. These are unique beautifully crafted designs that any warrior will be proud to wear. I know I am.
The Japanese Samurai lived by a code of honor held to the highest degree. It was so sacred to those
warriors that if one were to lose his honor through defeat, cowardice, dishonesty or weakness, that
honor could never be regained in life. Honor could only be regained by a noble death. And this was
accomplished by the act of ritual suicide – Seppuku and it had to be done according to a precise ritual
with complete disregard for the self, showing no hesitation, no pain and proper etiquette. Only then
could the warrior and his family name be released from shame. To the Samurai, honor was the only
possession that could never be lost. It was the soul of the Samurai, and a man with no soul, no longer
deserved to live.
LIMITED EDITION - "Makoto" - Honesty Samurai T-Shirt $32.95
Here is our latest addition to our Samurai Bushido line of shirts - “Makoto.” Honesty was demanded of these loyal warriors and held in the highest regard among their ranks. Lying was a dishonor to all Samurai and demanded seppuku, “ritual suicide” as the only way to restore honor to the offender’s name. LIMITED EDITION - "Jin" - Benevolence Samurai T-Shirt $32.95
Jin – Benevolence - an act of kindness all true warriors are bound to by their codes. All true warriors live by their codes, otherwise they would not be a warrior but rather, just a ruthless killer. The Samurai live by the code of Bushido and Jin was one of its tenants. All the real warriors that I have ever known, in spite of their battle skills, had a streak of kindness set hard and fast down the middle of their soul. This shirt featuring a rendition of a Samurai Warrior firing one of the earliest Japanese firearms represents the fourth tenant in our series, Jin. Ultra soft in a subdued maroon, the shirt features a flash of silver foil on the lettering about the Warrior. This is a beautiful shirt. LIMITED EDITION - "Rei" - Respect Samurai T-Shirt $32.95 This is the third in our series of Bushido Shirts representing Rei (respect), one of the seven tenants of Bushido. The strict code followed by the real samurai placed a high regard on the ideal of respect. Respect for authority. Respect for tradition. Respect for fellow Samurai and, even respect for their enemies, sometimes, even after killing them in battle. This shirt, featuring an axe wielding Samurai Soldier is printed on an extra soft, blue grey, "street washed" shirt that is out in a slightly fuller, athletic fit than the first two samurai shirts. I still wear a large size in both cuts. The design features distressed red foil accents on both back and front and gives the shirt an elegant yet "street creds" look. I'm wearing mine to a Blues Club tonight and I'm gonna fit right in.
LIMITED EDITION - "Yu" - Valor Samurai T-Shirt $32.95
This is a beautiful shirt. The second of our Samurai, Bushido series. This shirt features a beautiful dusk blue background with a charging Samurai on horseback in the foreground. One of the special skills of certain Samurai warriors was their skill at horsemanship. These Samurai "Calvary" were especially valuable in battle and they garnered a favored status by the fuedal lords they served. This shirt features just such a warrior, and it looks great!
